Once upon a time, there were no cellphones, and thus no apps, can you imagine? People were required to use maps, ask directions. Worst of all people were required to speak to each other at dinner. Ghastly times, but thankfully they are over, and not only do we have the ease of apps, but we can sit through dinner on a date swiping right on Tinder.
So with this in mind, I present the best apps to use whilst travelling through the great continent of Asia.
Forget Asia, this is probably the best travel app for anywhere in the world, and as a travel agent I have to say it is a goldmine. So heres the concept, you type in 2 places, lets say Rome and Rio (see what I did there), and the app tells you all the ways of getting between said two places. Boats, planes, buses, flights, the lot with prices and links. Happy days!
Whilst their reach is not so great in China, for places like The Philippines, Thailand, and Cambodia you can rent a villa for literal pennies!
OK, so this might be like stating the obvious, but when you are travelling around South-East Asia, there is no site that comes even close to Agoda in what they offer. Best of all you can even pre-pay by credit card.
Although this site is China-specific it is a must if you are travelling through China. I remember the bad old days of having to line up for train tickets in China, only to find they were not available. With Ctrip you book and pay online, although you still need to line up to pick up the ticket, can’t have everything eh! Also for Chinese hotels, they are slightly better than Agoda, or Booking.com
Opinions on flight booking sites are a bit like arseholes, everyone has one, but in our experience you can’t beat Momondo. Why? They are the only flight booking site to actually include budget airlines, which saves us money, which we like!
A website rather than an app, but they provide the best priced and widest coverage for travel insurance (they even insure you for North Korea)
So what do you think of our list? What else should we add?
