We’re just gonna say this straight: Chinese people are not the best at following rules. Whether it’s queueing up, not taking photos or refraining from carving one’s name into priceless Egyptian artefacts, Chinese people are the Riggs to the rest of the world’s Murtaugh.
What is somewhat surprising, however, is the growing backlash over people breaking one particular rule: the theft of other people’s seats on trains. The recent national phenomenon has sparked a huge backlash on Chinese social media and China Railway has recently started imposing fines and train bans on rule-breakers.
Not that the above lady gives two shits about this, however. One of the strange breed that prefers window to aisle, she refused to move for the whole journey and got slapped with a 200-yuan fine and a ban from buying train tickets for 180 days.
The seat-stealing saga continues.
