Concerto Inn Hotel Review
Lamma Island is my home away from home in Hong Kong, largely because I have a mate that lives here, unfortunately, I had planned a trip without first planning with him, so was left with not one, but two nights to fill my hotel jollies! No biggie as Lamma Island is my favourite place in Hong Kong.
Why the Concerto Inn Lamma ?
On my first night on Lamma Island, I was forced to stay at this horrible hotel which is located right after the ferry pier, and at 1am it was the only place offering rooms on a Friday night. How to explain this place? Well, I will write an article about it, but God-awful is the phrase.
I had searched online and seen rooms available at Bayshore Inn on Hung Shing Yeh Beach, the main beach on Lamma Island. The main hotels here Concerto Inn and Bayshore are basically in the same area. But the main restaurant/bar on the beach where I had previously eaten and drank is in Concerto Inn so it seemed like a nice option.
What are Concerto Inn rooms like?
Hong Kong is Hong Kong so $80 a night for a tiny room with a small bathroom and balcony for $100 is what it is.
Beds are OK, and it is worth paying extra for the balcony as the view of the beach is decent and it’s a nice place to sit and drink a beer.
Concerto Inn Location
Hung Shing Yeh Beach, the main beach on Lamma Island, is about 30 minutes walk from the “capital” of Yung Shue Wan. Location wise it really couldn’t be much better in all fairness.
Concerto Inn – Facilities
Great restaurant, although food and drinks are not that cheap. There’s a few other cheap restaurants and shops nearby as well, so you are far from tied to the hotel for food and supplies.
Oh, and did I mention it is literally on the beach.
For $100 a night I’d rather stay at my mate’s house for free, but overall it’s a fairly good value considering its Hong Kong, Hong Kong really is not China! If you’re gonna stay on Lamma Island then the Concerto Inn is a decent choice.
One small thing I will add though, and this is indicative of Hong Kong, rather than the Concerto Inn, is the passive-aggressive signs on the walls and attitudes to things like a late checkout, but it is what it is. And they do make a good Bloody Mary!
